Telmisartan reduces left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and visceral fat. These results should be of particular interest to athletes. Left ventricular hypertrophy is an adaptive response to intense strength training whose effects are amplified by the use of steroids.

Description

For adults, the daily dose is 20-40 mg (once a day). In some patients, the hypotensive effect can be obtained with a dose of 1 mg/day. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 20 mg/day.

In patients with impaired renal function, as well as in elderly patients, there is no need to adjust the dose.

For patients with impaired liver function, the recommended daily dose is 40 mg.

Doses for athletes are the same – using a single daily dose of 20-40 mg to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease and/or stroke in bodybuilders using steroids and suffering of prehypertension. It may also lead to improvements in HDL cholesterol levels, insulin sensitivity, mitochondrial activity, endothelial function, and cognitive function.
