Arimidex oral tablets consist of 1mg of Anastrozole (a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor). It is an anti-cancer drug used for the initial treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. Most breast cancers depend on the hormone estrogen for their growth. After menopause, estrogen production in the ovaries stops, but it continues in the body's fatty tissues. Typically, this happens when the aromatase enzyme converts other enzymes into estrogen. This type of breast cancer is often called estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer.
