Dorian Yates' bodybuilding: from method to legend

Dubbed  in the world of Bodybuilding, for its surprising and unexpected appearances during tournaments, Dorian Yates has become, over the years of his training, a mythical figure in British bodybuilding.

Dorian Yates achieved consecration, winning the title of Mr. Olympia between 6 and 1992 for 1997 consecutive years. His success, he owes it very particularly to a specific training: the HIT that is to say the High Intensity Training. Many bodybuilding enthusiasts also envy him the size of his back and calves.

 High intensity, simplified training:

Dorian Andrew Mientjez Yates was born on April 19, 1962, in the West Midlands of England, in Sutton Coldfield.

In order to build a muscle as titanic as his, Dorian Yates opted for relatively short and intense training sessions where he performed only one and only series of exercises. His practice was in total opposition to the usual training using several sets of exercises and which proved to be quite long.

His video appeared in 1996, « Blood and Guts " reveals all the intensity of his training where we find out Dorian lifting huge loads, going so far as to call on his training partner for forced rehearsals. Muscle stimulation was then at its peak. Dorian, in a very short period of time, was exhausting the muscle. He therefore needed more recovery time.

Result: an extraordinarily developed back, gain weight spectacular and quality. With such training, Dorian Yates managed to reach 145 kilos outside tournaments and 132 kilos during competitions with biceps of 55 cm in diameter.

However, Dorian Yates stresses today that this type of training is strongly discouraged for beginners. That for its part, it has reached such intensity in one exercise, gradually. So, he recommends that future bodybuilding enthusiasts go gradually in their training to avoid possible injuries.

From his training was born the Rowing Yates:

Dorian Yates stood out for his training and his physique more than impressive. From his journey and his image was born on Rowing Yates. This exercise has since been taken up by many bodybuilding enthusiasts.

The exercise consists in making the muscles of the back work to ensure its maximum muscular development by mainly involving the middle and lower trapezoids.

The exercise is performed while standing with your legs slightly bent. The bust leans forward, about 45 degrees. The hands are in overhand grip. In this position, it is a matter of pulling the bar towards you, in order to bring it down to the lower abdomen, while keeping the arms relatively straight since it is the movement of the shoulders back and forth that will have to perform the gesture. .

This movement of the Rowing Yates became quite popular in the gyms and was popularized on the forums as well as through many videos on YouTube.
